The session, led by theatre maker Nathan Powell will focus on how we work with young people and community groups to tell stories important to them, rooted in truth, in a way that is safe and flexible to participants needs.
The workshop will be a mixture of conversation and practical tasks that will offer participants an insight Nathans way of working.
The session will focus on:
- Creating a safe and efficient space for exploration
- Creating theatre from people’s truths and lived experience
- Pastoral support for participants and you
- Life after a project
- Space for questions, discussing and group skill sharing

Nathan Powell is a director and writer, making new work that invites people into the theatre with open arms and a smile. A large part of his work is creating with young people – he is an advocate for the benefits of engaging with the arts and a champion of young people’s work. For the last two years he was Associate Director with 20 Stories High in Liverpool.
Recent work includes Suck. Your. Mum, writer (Part of 846 for Theatre Royal Stratford East), The Spine which he wrote and directed (20 Stories High), Macbeth, director (Orange Tree), and Holloway Jones, director (Nottingham Playhouse).
