Talent Development Map

RTYDS are committed to supporting artists and making theatre more equitable and representative.

On this page, directors and theatre-makers can search for training and development opportunities around England using our Talent Development Map below.

We have also created and gathered a number of other brilliant resources and regular opportunities to help artists navigate and access opportunities, whatever stage of a career or wherever they live in the country.

WHY THE MAP EXISTS

When you are making the first steps as an artist, knowing where to go, who to contact, and what might be available to you can be challenging. If you live outside of London, it can be even more difficult to navigate who to approach, or to get a clear sense of what is available in your town, city, region.

To make this easier for early career creatives, RTYDS has created a map of brilliant arts organisations, theatres and companies across England who are committed to artist development, with a particular focus on directors and theatre makers. So, whatever stage of your career or wherever you live in the country, you can have a deeper understanding of the cultural landscape of your local area.

Our hope is that over time, this map will be used in educational and professional settings; for emerging directors and established creatives looking for a new challenge and for those who are wondering where to begin.

This is just the start, and we’ve added 115 to begin with. Now, we need your help to grow this together.

*The red pins are the organisations who have specified that their programmes and opportunities are open to theatre makers who are working class or from low socio-economic backgrounds.

HOW TO USE THE MAP

This map has been created using Google Maps.

To view a particular place, simply zoom in and click on the blue or red pin of your choice. It will bring up information about the organisation, what kind of opportunities they offer, their telephone number, a link to their website and access information. You can also view where to find them.

On the side bar, you can filter places by areas in England. Simply tick or untick the areas you would like to view to narrow your search.

Mobile: For mobile users, this map will automatically open in the Google Maps App, if downloaded. To view the side bar and filter your search, click ‘view map legend’. If you do not have the Google Maps app, then this will open in your device’s browser.
