Proposing a Project
Tuesday 21 July, 10.00am - 12 noon
Where: Zoom virtual workshop
Pitching can be stressful and as directors we invariably spend more of our time talking about our work than we do making it. The ability to be able to clearly and concisely articulate the tone and texture of our work can be a key step in getting it to a rehearsal room but often we find ourselves having these conversations before ever really knowing what we might end up making.
In this workshop director Caitriona Shoobridge will share tools for streamlining initial thoughts for a production and ideas on how we can most effectively communicate them to others.
We will focus on:
- Quickly accessing the major idea of your work
- Giving a clear picture of yourself as an artist
- Translating images – helping us to see it.
- Context – Knowing who you’re talking to.
This is a practical workshop. Directors should come along with a project in mind that they would like to make in the future, this can be a play or a devised piece. You can bring any idea, although it must not be something that you have already fully realised. There will be opportunities to work on your idea alone and in groups and some time for discussion at the end.
Please click the sign-up button above to let us know you plan to attend so we can email Zoom details to you the day before.
Closed captions will be available for this session via Otter AI. Please let us know if you have any other access requirements using the space on the sign up form.
RTYDS is currently curating the Young Vic Directors Programme. You don’t need to be a member of the Genesis Network to take part in this session, but you do need to be a professional director, designer or producer and not in full time education.
